Saori Mochizuki（サオリ モチヅキ）
Designer's profile

Born in Tokyo.
Graduated from Waseda University, theatre and film course in Department of Literature.



After working at TV commercial making company, became independent and established her own career. Started making and selling fancy goods in 2004. Made a debut at ISETAN Shinjuku exhibition hall with new concept and aspects in March, 2012. Renewed hand-made system into incorporated company in May, 2012.



In her private life, she lives with her cinematographer husband who is filming mainly TV commercials and cinemas, together with 3 sons. The eldest is 16 years old mixed dog “Cork” (passed away in 2020), the second is approximately 13 years old ex-stray cat “Ten”, the youngest is 7 years old boy. (as of June 2023)

The designer used to work at a CM production and had an experience to bring heavy bags to everywhere. Now she is a mother of a child who brings heavy bags to go out with her kid. Those back ground made her think to create a new type of bag that can lighten the total image of simple fashion, and allow the user to bring it longer time with little difficulty.

The smallest bag of Saori Mochizuki weighs only 350g, lighter than a 500ml bottled of water. The art of the bags are light materials, like cotton.

But cotton can not be durable……?!

So, the designer uses durable materials as lining cloth. They are light yet strong, and immune to water and creases.

This lining idea is registered for an utility model in Japan (Registration No. 3189623).

This utility model makes the bags unlikely to lose their shapes. Even if you bring the bag with its content full, you can keep the bag’s shape, and you are not likely to get tired.

2.Delightful assistant to change your impression



If you tried to change your fashion from head to toe, it would cost considerably.

5.Made in Japan, absolutely!



The designer makes sure to create all parts of bags in Japan so that she can discuss about details smoothly, and make a quick move for further improvement. East side of Tokyo, for example, Taito-ku or Edogawa-ku are prosperous bag making region, that is not well known fact though. There still are many material shops around there.

But sadly, domestic experts are decreasing rapidly because of low-cost laborers from abroad, and an aging Japanese society. In those circumstances, it is the great difficulty for the designer to find a right maker and keep the bag’s quality high.The designer communicates with the maker very closely to create a high-quality bag.

6.Bags are limited sales!



Saori Mochizuki’s bags are produced in small lots.

Some bags are less than ten. And rarely, there is one and only special hand made bag by the designer.

If you found someone on the street had the same bag that you got enthusiastically, you would feel a little unhappy.

hat kind of awkward moment will never happen to Saori Mochiduki’s bag user. Bags are produced in small lots, so you can be proud of your special bag.

That means some bags are sold out soon. If the situation admitted, the designer herself can sew the additional ordered bag. Please do not hesitate contacting us.
